DBH need no introduction, so I’m delighted to reveal they are store of the day today and you can get 20% off everything, including their sale prices.

You’ll all be familiar with Design by Humans I’m sure, late into the Crowdsourcing game they took off like a rocket, due to the most advanced printing techniques (some of their competitors have caught up now in that respect) strong prizes ($3,500 at the moment, but they did just have a $10k contest), a slick site and some outragouesly good prints. I think my wardrobe now has more DBH than Threadless. Their womens range is really extensive, my girfriend is well into double figures for her DBH collection.

Where DBH have really made a name for themselves is in edgy, large prints. I’m usually more reserved in my t-shirts but I’ve respect for people who can pull of the big bold prints DBH is churning out every day (there’s a new shirt every day). Here are few:

Up to 7 already? This time our special is Andy from hoody/t-shirt blog Hide Your Arms setting todays question.

Its been great to watch HYA go from strength to strength in the past year, the main reason for that success would be Andy its owner and voice. It’s easily the t-shirt blog I read most, is usually ahead of the game with exclusives and even if I’m not into the shirt it’ll still be an interesting read.

Question 7: Where is the t-shirt Andy is wearing available from?

Here is a clue, you can ignore all the big t-shirt sites and design contests like Threadless, BDH, Uneetee etc. Okay that’s not much of a clue, but it has at least limited your options (slightly). Please don’t post links so we can try and keep it secret a little longer once someone gets it.

Here is a Andy’s Q&A:

1. Favourite tee shop: It feels as if I should say Threadless simply because they were one of the first tee companies I was a fan of when I started writing Hide Your Arms and if it wasn’t for them then I’d probably not be quite as obsessed with t-shirts as I am now, but Threadless would be a bit of an easy answer, wouldn’t it?

At the moment, I think that Allmightys is probably my favourite t-shirt company. Great designs, great artists, high-quality prints, and the people behind it are really passionate about what they’re trying to do with Allmightys. I’m also a big fan of Graniph, they can’t really get much wrong in my book, they are the last tee company that I actually bought a t-shirt off (I usually don’t buy tees anymore because of all the review samples I get sent), so they’ve got to be pretty special!

2. Favourite designer: This is a real tough question for me, a few names spring to mind (Olly Moss, Sven Palmowski, Eric Terry from Linty Fresh), and I’m also pretty terrible at remembering the names of designers, but I think that the designer who takes up the most space in my wardrobe, and uses up most of my referral points at design competitions is, Tony Aguero, aka aliadotony (http://tomo77.net/). He hits the spot for me pretty much every time in terms of both style and substance, which is interesting because there is such variety to the look of his work, Tony also often deals with Japanese themes, and as a bit of a nipponophile myself that seems to have given him the magic formula to designing tees I like. Outside the tee world I really like Kozyndan’s work, I wish they’d start putting more stuff onto clothes so that I could write about them more.

3. Santa please send me: I’d love it if I found a new ‘Flowers in the Attic‘ underneath the tree this Christmas. I bought one a few years back, and I loved it so much that I’ve actually worn it out. Threadless have reprinted it numerous times, it used to sell out so fast that they might as well have been printing money, but I don’t think they’ve printed my cherished colourway of navy blue, white, and red for a long time.

Threadless Give-Away Question 6

Now it’s time to announce how many shirts Kat has, and set question number 6!

Record participation in the “How many t-shirts does Kat own?” contest. Probably because you didn’t have to do much more than enter three numbers and press submit. Hard to get that wrong right?

There were some wild guesses, chelly I’m looking at you here - 500?! There were three or four guesses in the four hundred range, the life of a t-shirt blogger is a good one, but its not quite that good.

Day 3: We asked you for the best reponse you recieved to one of your t-shirts, some great entries. The winner was Bpou with:

“I was at some renaissance fair wearing one of those “1up” mushroom shirts, from super mario, and when I first walked in some guy (working there I guess) kept on following me around harassing me to give up the “mushroom” for some “magical concoction”. Holy crap, this got popped out of trees and stuff, me and my friends found it hilarious throughout the whole day. Funniest part was when I found him on his lunch break. He literally said “Hey man, I get paid enough to do this, so let me have a break and eat.” I honestly had no idea they paid people to stalk mushroom shirted people.

We had no idea either Bpou! You’ve won 10 entries into the prize draw.

2nd Place - Phillp and the PETA Monkey storey. Because PETA people are funny and I love Monkeys.

1. What is your all time favourite t-shirt store and why?

Hmmm… that’s a tough one. I would have to go with DBH due to the quantity and the quality of the designs. There’s always something there that I have to have it (although I’m not 100% satisfied by the quality of the fabric). From the smaller independent brands I love Akumu Ink’s huge violent yet stylish prints.

2. Your all-time favourite designer and why?

I don’t know about “all-time” but since Sven Palmowski (aka a.mar.illo) started designing t-shirts and winning contests all over the internet, “my heart belongs to him.” I’m a complete sucker for his huge melancholic busts and and complex compositions. He puts a lot of work into his designs and has great inkwork.

3. Santa please get me these t-shirts for Christmas

Because I love them but I won’t pay $40+ for a shirt. Why do European shirts have to cost so much?

As you can see, Cassida is inspired by the ancient Romans. They focus on the luxury and glamor of that era. Cassida’s designs have a “no feel” touch to them. It was a great idea to feature the height diagram on the background, and the helmet was also a nice addition. He is spilling a goblet of what looks like wine, which is an interesting addition. I can’t seem to find the word, but I like that “thing” he is standing on.
